Isle of Mull


Tobermory with 700 people, the largest settlement on Mull, is home to the only whisky distillery on the island.]] The Isle of Mull (or simply Mull) is the second largest island of the Inner Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland in the county of Argyll and Bute. In the 2001 census the usual resident population of Mull, Iona and Ulva was 1,841; this is supplemented by many more tourists, some of whom visit the Duart Castle. Its landscape is primarily moorland, with a few peaks. The highest peak on the island is Ben More. Ferries link Mull with places on the mainland including Oban (to Craignure) and Kilchoan (to Tobermory) and with the surrounding islands of Iona and Ulva. The Isle of Mull Railway runs to Craignure. The only burgh on the island is the capital, Tobermory.
